Job Description


 As a Nielsen Brandbank DevOps Engineer you will help our talented, cross-functional team to improve deployment frequency, faster time to market, the lower failure rate of new releases, shortened lead time between fixes, and Faster mean time to recovery


  • Own the day to day deployment tasks for Non-Production and Production environments, to assist in creating, maintaining the tools & processes involved.

  • Configure and manage Azure subscriptions, assets access, and structure.

  • Design and maintain tools and systems to both deploy and manage these systems. 

  • Ensure the availability of the services to deliver agreed service level agreements.

  • Provide and manage the virtual server estate during its migration to the Azure platform as a service hosting.

  • Scripting of Infrastructure as code and deployment steps.

  • Communicate and collaborate with all IT teams and business stakeholders.

  • Support production releases of new features and products.

  • Contribute to the migration of traditional Infrastructure assets to Infrastructure as code and continual delivery of Brandbank platforms.

  • Provision and management of virtual server estate, including patching, security, upgrades, and lifecycle during PAAS migration.

  • Deployment and management of Azure virtual networking stack, includes Vnets, application gateway, express route, and VPN connectivity during PAAS migration.

  • Management of SQL server cluster hosts including networking, storage, scaling.

  • Support the release flow from development through to production, and help manage the environments using CI/CD tools and methodologies.

  • Participate in evolving our build, deployment, and release management practices towards a continuous integration/continuous deployment model.

  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support of multiple production and non-production environments.

  • Part of the on-call team responsible for the health of a 24/7 production hosted system.

  • Assist in ensuring the global availability of all services.

  • Deliver critical partner relationships including negotiation and service levels.

  • Provide global development team support, including solutions design advice, diagnostics.


  • Ability to automate system configuration and management using scripts (Bash, Powershell, Ruby, Python, etc.) and configuration management tools.

  • Significant experience designing and delivering infrastructure services.

  • Experience in continuous delivery tool sets and frameworks.

  • Advanced knowledge of Azure including virtual networking, non consumption PAAS and IAAS.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS, DFSR, Group Policy.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Server technologies including server 2012 R2, Server 2016, Server 2019. 

  • Advanced knowledge of Azure virtual networking and IAAS hosting.

  • Work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.

  • Ability to grasp complex concepts quickly.

  • Experience managing highly available production-facing e-commerce websites is preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Server platforms including Windows Server 2008R2 2012, 2012 R2, IIS7.5 IIS8.0 is preferred.

  • Exposure to Agile Development methodologies is preferred,

  • Exposure to Bitbucket and Bamboo or other source control, build and deployment products.

  • Experience in managing integration projects is desirable.

  • Able to think tactically while still considering the wider global strategy.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience
