The face of the global consumer is changing. Explosive economic growth in the developing world has lifted billions out of poverty and into the middle class. At the same time, internet access and mobile penetration will increasingly connect consumers in ways once unimaginable, allowing them to share ideas and information around the world. We are in the midst of a fundamental shift in global consumer behavior with myriad implications across all consumer-facing industries.

The goal of this research program is to provide a robust understanding of that shift and its implications over the next decade. We bring together multiple data sources and expert perspectives across a variety of topics, including: which consumer groups are leading the shift, and where; how the ways in which consumers shop and pay for their goods and services will change; and what the opportunities are for consumer-facing businesses to address this shifting demand. We do so across multiple product categories and geographies.
