Nielsen is looking for a Product Manager to lead product development for the Television Audience Measurement (TAM) Reporting team. Will initially be responsible for systems that clients use to submit program names to Nielsen, such as eNames, and MediaEvents products, and will assist with the ongoing move from myEVNTS to Nielsen Content Link.  Will also be involved in reporting systems that clients use to access National TV data.

 

ROLE

Nielsen is looking for a candidate who can support end-to-end product development efforts for the TAM Reporting team. As a Product Manager you will work closely with other Product Managers, clients and Nielsen sales teams to understand client needs of a reporting interface and help translate these needs into a prioritized roadmap for the development team. Concurrently, you will partner daily with cross-functional technology, user experience, operations, data science, marketing, communications and related product teams to drive the end-to-end development of these roadmap items into fully realized product functionality. You will also be involved in post production support of the applications in terms of handling enquiries and documentation for users. You can expect direct client exposure and involvement throughout the whole development life cycle including client use case gathering, high-level design, testing, user experience, external marketing efforts and others.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES/OBJECTIVES

  • Serve as an informed, definitive voice on product functionality and roadmap in order to represent the product vision externally and accurately gather and respond to client feedback

  • Collaborate within and across product development teams to build and execute against aligned roadmap and play a critical role in refining requirements, aligning priorities and iterating on development 

  • Act as a trusted product partner in the development lifecycle and serve as a resource and decision maker as cross-functional teams look for product guidance in their respective owned areas

  • Participate in product discovery sessions with clients and client service teams to understand end user needs and business workflows.

  • Take action in support of overall product health including quality and robustness of data and maintaining positive client regard for owned products

  • Leverage Agile best practices to execute against roadmap with flexibility and ultimately ship the right product at the right time

  • Lead the execution of work within the scrum team and facilitate agile ceremonies (Standups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Demos, Backlog Grooming, Retrospectives) across different time zones

  • Maintain an intake process to ensure the team has an up to date list of all the backlog items to facilitate efficient prioritization. 

  • Recognize technical debt present in legacy systems and effectively manage its reduction

  • Coordinate Go To Market Activities, including communications, rollout and product training

  • Communicate the overall status of initiatives and escalation of issues to senior leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry Experience in the National and Local TV Area

  • Understanding on Nielsen’s Names, Reference Data and procedures and Gracenote metadata

  • Familiarity with eNames, myEVNTS, MediaEvents, Nielsen Content Link, Total Content Ratings, NPOWER, NNTV a plus

  • Preferred candidate should have a proven track record and experience necessary to advocate for and establish product management best practices at Nielsen.

  • Experience in Agile and Scrum development practices is desired

  • Experience with Atlassian toolset (JIRA, Confluence) is desired

  • Experience with back-end development teams using cloud infrastructure technologies such as Airflow, Spark, AWS

  • A bias for change and the ability to influence a team toward a culture of quality

  • Strong communication, persuasion, interpersonal, and presentation skills

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple competing initiatives

  • Ability to listen and quickly distill information to recommend a course of action in driving project deliverables or client escalations

  • Client-facing experience with the ability to successfully interface with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams

  • Ability to follow detailed process and technology conversations and appropriately summarize this information at a level of detail that is meaningful to internal and client stakeholders  

  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple competing priorities and their accompanying details to deliver on larger team goals
