Overview:  Nielsen Scarborough, the nation’s premier source for local consumer insights through survey research, is looking for a skilled individual to join as a Database Analyst. This position involves heavy day-to-day data processing.  The ideal candidate will thrive on working in a fast-paced production environment. The Database Analyst role requires strong numerical, logistical, and analytical skills.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Running Production processes and monitoring

  • Resolve database issues, queries and error reports in accurate and timely manner

  • Write SQL scripts, queries, stored procedures and functions for database systems

  • Perform quality assurance tests for ensuring data integrity and quality

  • Perform logistical summations on survey questions and their responses in relation to similar questions to determine proper alignment of data

  • Coordinate with team members to work with database tables based on project requirements

  • Test database systems and perform bug fixes

  • Update tables with logistical statements to connect data

  • Ensure that production deadlines are met, working closely within a team and other departments 

  • Responsible for creation and support of final product for client delivery

  • Provide project updates and metrics to Manager on regular basis

  • Team with other Scarborough personnel on new development projects and assisting on existing projects as necessary

  • Create internal documentation for new processes and maintain documentation on existing processes

  • Participate in new software and hardware planning/implementation 

  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Skills and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or 2+ years related experience  

  • Strong working knowledge of Excel in particular working with macros

  • Programming experience in Visual FoxPro, MS SQL Server, MySQL, MS Access or similar platform required

  • Good understanding of data and schema standards and concepts

  • Detail oriented with strong numerical and analytical abilities to solve problems

  • Superior organizational, written and oral communication skills 

  • Ability to prioritize workload from multiple departments

  • Ability to interact well within a team and to work independently
